Sugar Daddys - new branch in Marchmont
#1
Sugar Daddys new branch opened this weekend, at 8 Roseneath Street Edinburgh. This is a café and bakery that specialises in gluten-free cakes, scones, etc. It obviously fills a need. When I popped in this afternoon, the place was full - mainly with students and other young people, as far as I could see.

It was good to hear that there was no music. The manager told me that it was the high licensing fees that  had put them off playing music. They were planning to see how things go, and might consider playing music if they thought it would help bring in customers, but based on the opening weekend, he thought it was unlikely to be necessary.

I don't have their full contact details to hand. Their website is http://www.sugardaddysedinburgh.com, but it only has details of their other branch, which is in Rodney Street. They also have a Facebook page.

I hope this is of interest,

I've been there once or twice (during my business trip to Edinburgh). The coffee is quite cheap and the atmosphere is cozy and quiet. Just the way I like it on a rainy day. A great place for students too.

Thanks for those comments, Terry. I go past the cafe several times a week, and it always seems to be busy.
