Your profile
Your profile consists of various items of personal information that other members can see. You have complete control over the information that is shown in your profile.

To view or change your profile, click on "Settings" on the menu bar near the top of the screen. Then click "Edit Profile" in the vertical bar on the left of the screen.

These are some of the items in your profile:
  • Your username.. This is the name by which you will be known within the forum. We encourage you to use your real name (unless you have a good reason not to). Other members will want to address you by name when replying to your posts, so choose a name that can easily be recognised – not a meaningless jumble of letters or digits.

  • Your password. You chose a password when you registered for the forum. You can change it at any time.

  • Your email address. You can change your email address at any time. Forum administrators may use your email address to notify you of important issues regarding your membership. It will never be revealed to other members without your approval. And we will never use it to send you any kind of marketing material or advertisements.

  • Optional fields. These include your date of birth, the URL of your personal website (if you have one), your approximate location, and any further information you wish to provide about yourself. Remember, other members will be able to see this information. Sharing personal information in this way helps keep the forum friendly and personal, but feel free to withhold any details that you don't want others to see.

  • Your photo. We encourage you to upload a photo of yourself to help other forum members identify you. Providing a photo is optional, but if you choose to do so, please use a genuine photo of yourself (preferably head and shoulders), not a picture of a celebrity, cartoon character or your pet cat.
  • To upload a photo, click the "Change photo" button, then navigate to the photo on your computer's disk drive. The photo should ideally be 100 x 100 pixels and less than 25 KB; if it is too large it will be automatically resized.

  • Your signature. This is another option for sharing some personal information about yourself. Your signature will appear at the foot of all your future posts (and you have the option of also showing it in your existing posts, if any). It could include, for example, your occupation, a link to your personal website, or a comment or quotation that might be of interest to other forum members (but subject to the same rules as all forum content). The signature may contain up to 255 characters. Tip: Using a different font, style or colour for your signature will help offset it from the main part of your posts. Do not include your email address in your signature as this encourages spammers.
