Full Version: Bird song instead of muzac?

On October 17th the RSPB has a campaign to "Let Nature Sing". They are encouraging everyone to listen to bird song that day to send a message to tell people in power that we don't want bird song to disappear. Bird song is becoming more rare in towns and cities because birds have been driven out by the noise. Perhaps if we played bird song instead of muzac in shops and restaurants, birds might be encouraged back.

What a good idea. It would definitely be better than playing unwanted and irritating music.

Wasn't there a DAB radio channel a few years ago that played nothing but uninterrupted birdsong, on a continuous loop? It was surprisingly popular (if memory serves).

P.S. Welcome to the forum, Sarah.
Thank you, Mike

I haven't come across the DAB radio channel but I think a shopping mall replaced muzac with bird song for one weekend a few months ago and it was very popular. Would have to choose the bird song carefully - some birds can be a bit raucous!
A better option would be to not play anything at all, but I suppose if you have to have something, birdsong would be just about tolerable.
